Yin Yoga
The practice of Yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese beliefs and Taoist principles, according to which a set of pathways called the meridians runs through the body. Our life force “Prana” in Hindu philosophy of “Chi” in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is believed to flow through those meridians.
Yin yoga is a slow meditative practice that targets our connective tissues, fascia, joints and ligaments. Yin yoga allows the muscles to relax rather than contract, yet it is not a passive practice. Poses are held for 3 to 5mn.
A regular practice improves flexibility while creating space to turn inward. We sit with our thoughts with compassion and ultimately, harmonise the flow of chi in the body, enabling slow energetic and emotional release.
Vinyasa Flow
The Sanskrit roots of Vinyasa has two components: “Nyasa” to place and “Vi” in a special way. Vinyasa flow brings awareness to the breath while we move into a set of poses. Each sequence is built around the fluidity of movement and allows space for mental clarity, increasing stamina, strength and flexibility.
I teach with a functional approach. With that in mind, the emphasis is placed on our capabilities, with awareness and care, rather than aiming at achieving an aesthetic result.
